Toy Fair 2010: Mattel
No photographs allowed. Bummed cause wanted to bring back some photos of Barbie and Disney Princesses for my little girl. However, there was a display of the Barbie Black Basics line. I've seen this at Target. It's sold out. Grab them if you can.
Toy Fair 2010: Big Freakin Plane
This was a 1:18 scale F-14 fighter jet by Merit Toys. It was HUGE! Retails for about $249. It was about two feet long. Detailing was incredible, down to the turbines in the jet engine.
Toy Fair 2010: Barbie's New Occupation
There was a contest to see what new occupation Barbie would take on this year. Two large billboards outside the Javitz Center had some possibilities. The final result was "Computer Engineer." Welcome to the world of off-shoring Barbie.
Toy Fair 2010: Where the Wild Things Are
These PVC figures were about 12 inches tall each. Incredible detail. They were in the Diamond Select booth. Think they retail about $35 each.
Toy Fair 2010: NECA Gears of War
Nice new NECA lineup for Gears of War along with a great diorama set up. Series 6 should have some awesome Locust bad guys.
Toy Fair 2010: McFarlane
Not a lot of new items at McFarlane than is already out in the stores. Some HALO, some current and upcoming Sports Picks. The new 4 inch Playmaker baseball figures. Talked to the one guy manning the booth and suggested an encyclopedia per sport or city/state. Most collectors don't have anymore room to display.
Toy Fair 2010: DC Direct
DC is doing a great job building a great collection for secondary store markets (comic shops) without going to the big box store. More expensive, but at least they are creating figures fans want without being at the mercy of what the big box stores want on their shelves. The Blackest Night figures are awesome. Interesting story.
Toy Fair 2010: Mass Effect 2
Figures based on the Mass Effect 2 videogame. Don't know much about it, but the figures and the game commercials look pretty cool.
Toy Fair 2010: DC: World of Warcraft
So I was able to travel to mecca last week...otherwise known as the International Toy Fair in New York City, thanks to some wonderful friends in the business.
A four hour drive to NYC from DC, a day at the fair, and a five hour drive home, but well worth it.
Here are some photos of the current and upcoming lines of World of Warcraft figures. A great series...very tempting to start a new collection.
