National Book Month - Day 31 - Whew! Finished - Space Adventure Collectibles

Wow! That was fun. 31 days of toy books. There are more. Someday I'll get to them. Time to get back to toy postings.

The last book is one of the most important - this is the first book I ever purchased that dealt with toys and values.  Published in 1990, I saw this at my college book store. I grabbed it and perused it for hours, thinking back of all the Kenner Star Wars toys sitting in boxes back home. Nice to see Battlestar Galactica, Black Hole, and Alien in here as well.

Space Adventure Collectibles by T.M. Tumbusch can be yours for $.74 cents on Amazon. Mostly black and white but awesome color collages as well.

The prices will make you cry though.  :-)

National Book Month - Day 30 - Star Wars: From Concept to Screen to Collectible

Every Star Wars collector know Stephen Sansweet. The ultimate Star Wars collector and owner of Rancho Obi-Wan,which houses the largest Star Wars collection museum.

Sansweet published From Concept to Screen to Collectible back in 1992. It was one of the first toy books to take us through the evolution of Star Wars toys. Plenty of text to tell the story and awesome full color photos.

Used copies can be snagged on Amazon for under $5.

Star Wars Action Figure Archive, published in 1999 was a great update and also includes the first few years of the Kenner/Hasbro Star Wars rebirth.

National Book Month - Day 28 - Gus and Duncan's Guide to Star Wars Prototypes

This is a really great book about the journey a Star Wars toy takes form concept to your hands. Everything from modeling, packaging and everything in between. Nice large photos which is a change from their original Star Wars collectible guides. Also shows plenty of items that never made it to market.

Gus and Duncans-Guide-Star-Wars-Prototypes costs $50 on Amazon.

Another fun book combining photos and great history and descriptions around timeless toys that we all know and love, from Barbie, Tonka Trucks, Holly Hobbie and Star Wars.

National Book Month - Day 26 - Pop Sculpture, How to Create Action Figures and Collectible Statues

This is a pretty neat book that takes the reader through the steps of designing, sculpting, and painting action figures or collectible statues. A wealth of information. I wish I had this as a kid or teenager and would have realized this was actually someone's job.

Written by Tim Bruckner, Ruben Procopio and Zach Oat, you can grab Pop Sculpture for $12 on Amazon.
