Star Wars Power of the Force 2 - Freeze Frame Mail Aways

Since I started buying up cheap POTF2 figures, I noticed some of the offers they had on the backs of the cards, particularly the figures that had Freeze Frame slides on the front. People stopped making slides back in the 80s. So why pack slides in with figures and what do you do with them? Well, Kenner also offered a Freeze Frame folder and a set of binoculars to view the slides. Each was a separate offer.

I picked up the folder on Ebay for cheap. Thank goodness it only cost kids one Proof of Purchase and $2 shipping. This was a flimsy plastic sheet that only held 12 slides. Kind of weird when the checklist had almost 40 figures that contained slides.

The binos are kind of cool, though you can only load one slide in at a time. Still, both are kind of fun. Here they are along with some POTF2 figures along their original Kenner counterparts.

  1. You know, when they're next to the original figures they don't look too bad.

    1. I agree - other than the first wave of muscular figures, they did a nice job.

  2. Lak Sivrak and that Bespin Luke are still two of my favorite action figures of all time. Kenner really improved the line, especially proportions, quickly from the original 1995 releases (many of which still are pretty nice sculpts) to this series.
