A Trip Back to My Hometown - Day 2
Now that I had scouted out the stores, I went back to each before getting on a plane to fly home.
It kind of went like this:
I stopped at Turbo Toys and purchased some great 80s stuff - California Raisins, vinyl Care Bears.
Then I went back to Geek Toy Hut and purchased a Mattel Battlestar Galactica Lucifer figure and yellow Daggit. I also picked up a bunch of carded Space Precinct figures for $10 each. I thought I had seen a bunch of carded Kenner Robin Hood figures here - I only bought one. Then realized the others were back at Turbo Toys.
So I drove back to Turbo Toys to get several Kenner Robin Hood figures which were still carded. The gentlemen who owned Turbo Toys was very nice.
And oh yeah - I had to get some teaching material for my presentation so stopped at Target and found these.

A Trip Back to My Hometown - Day 1
Way back in July, I was invited to my hometown of Arlington Heights by the local museum to present a class at a kids summer art camp, featuring the drawings I did of my hometown when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s. I spent about four days in town even though my presentation only lasted two hours. I had plenty of time to check out the local toy stores.
First up was Geek Toys Hut. Second was Turbo Toyz. I was kind of in a hurry so didn't purchase anything from Geek Toy Hut or take any photos. It was a nice big store with plenty for everyone. Turbo Toyz was a little smaller but still had a great selection. On day 1, I only purchased a few vintage Kenner Star Wars figures, including a small head Han Solo, which I had never had before.
Oh yeah, the museum where I did my presentation also had a small section of toys - mostly vintage dolls and doll houses.
