NECA Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl

So, an interesting story about these NECA Pirates of the Caribbean figures. I had never seen the movies. About four years ago, I decided to watch them. Really liked them. A lot of fun. Keira Knightly is hot. Johnny Depp plays an alcoholic pirate brilliantly. There are zombies and undead and treasure and swashbuckling - so much fun!

I knew there were figures from NECA so I poked at Ebay and found a staggering lot of 21 packaged figures - no doubles - for dirt cheap. I made the purchase. And then the box sat for a bit because I didn't have time to dive into it.  It also took up a lot of room. Maybe I had lost the adrenaline, but I decided to sell - hopefully at a profit.

It wasn't selling. Then, I decided I would unpackage them and start doing some photo shoots on my sand table in the garage. The auction was going to end in a day anyway. I figured if they didn't sell in the next 24 hours, I would open them up.

With minutes to spare in the auction the next night, someone bought it. When he contacted me, he said he was an extra in one of the Pirate films. I looked him up on IMDB and sure enough, he was there. Kind of cool. Glad the set went to someone who was connected to the film. Some days I wish I would have opened them, but that is the life of a collector. Buy, sell, buy something new. Clear out space. Rinse and repeat.

So here are the first few from the Curse of the Black Pearl. Included from Series 1 are Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Captain Barbossa and Dead Pirate. Then Pintel from Series 2 and Elizabeth Swann from Series 3.

New and Updated Channels - Instagram, Facebook, the good old Web

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! Hoping 2021 is much better than 2020.  Of course, interacting with all of you and this fun hobby is what made 2020 bearable. It's nice to take a break from working at home and being able to photograph a few action figures at lunch. Maybe I'll do that at my cubicle when I get back to the office.

Anyway, wanted to share a few new web channels where I'll be posting stuff.

I've been posting a lot on my Instagram account.

I also started an instagram account for female action figures only.

I started putting these blog posts onto a facebook page.

I've updated my website and plan to post more photos there more consistently.

Thanks for reading my blog. It's been fun to share and read all of yours as well.

Cheers! Happy New Year!

With that - I found this old photo. My complete Star Wars collection back in 1991.

hApPy NeW yEaR - Here Comes The Year of....the 80s!

What a crazy year 2020 was. There was a YouTube video I often watched to cheer me up when things were really crazy.

Waiting for a Star to Fall - A Tribute to 80s Entertainment

I've probably watched this video 100 times in the last six months.

Anyway, that inspired me to make my focus for 2021 action figures that are featured in 80s movies, television, music, etc.  The figures didn't have to be made then. In fact, I prefer the realistic NECA style 6 inch figures for this project.

I gathered what I have so far.

I have plenty of Star Wars that would fit in this. Some figures I am keeping an eye out for to fill out this project - Christopher Reeves Superman, Michael Keaton Batman, Flash Gordon, Robocop, Conan, and Ghostbusters. There's probably more. Will be fun to see what I come up with.
