BIF BANG POW Flash Gordon Figures

Another entry into the 3-3/4 inch figure renaissance, Bif Bang Pow has released some great figures from the 1980 Flash Gordon movie.

If you've ever seen the movie, it was classically and wonderfully bad - with bad acting and bad special effects. But I loved it. I recently watched it after not seeing it since it came out in theaters. The special effects and acting were worse than I remembered, and I still loved it.

Bif Bang Pow, who created some great Twilight Zone figures, continue to set a high bar with these Flash Gordon figures. Included in the first wave (let's hope there are more) are Flash Gordon, Emperor Ming, Vultan (Hawkmen leader), Princess Aura, and Prince Barin. Now some people have complained "why no Dale Arden, instead of Princess Aura"? Granted, Dale is a key character, but Princess Aura stole the show and is the best thing about the movie. She was hot!

If you want to order these figures, (they are an Entertainment Earth exclusive) you can find them here:

Star Wars Space Slug Jack in the Box

I purchased this online this summer after San Diego Comic Con. The idea is brilliant. This Star Wars Space Slug Jack in the Box comes from the ReedPop Supply Company - Purveyors of the Finest Pop Culture Collectibles or something like that according to their website.

ReedPop Supply Co

Brought to you from that classic scene in Empire Strikes Back, just turn the handle, listen to the music, and wait for the giant slug to chase you out of the asteroid.

Though a convention exclusive, you can still buy this today for $25, including some other funny Star Wars collectibles.

I may also have to pick up the Death Star Soccer Ball.

Gentle Giant Star Wars on Dagobah

Been meaning to do this for awhile. Recreating the Kenner Dagobah Playset, I used the 12 inch Gentle Giant Yoda, R2, Luke Bespin, and Darth Vader figures with the Sideshow Collectibles Yoda's Hut. The scales work perfectly, as they should.

I just need to get more vegetation to surround the hut. Other than that, pretty fun to set up.

McFarlane Walking Dead Building Sets - Upper and Lower Prison Cell

McFarlane Toys continues to create some great building block playsets from the Walking Dead line. A Game of Thrones line has also been announced and displayed at SDCC 2015.

Anyway, I managed to grab the Upper and Lower Prison Cell sets. These are small sets, made to add on to larger cell block set that was also recently released.

The Lower Prison Cell comes with Carl Grimes and Riot Gear Zombie. The Upper Prison Cell comes with Carol and Prisoner Zombie.

I still have a hard time putting the figures together. They seem so small and fragile I worry about breaking them.

FINALLY - Ellen Ripley from Aliens

Apparently, for decades, actress Sigourney Weaver has not given up her likeness rights for action figures. She finally relented and NECA has knocked it out of the park. Their first Alien wave this year included Warrant Officer Ripley from the Alien movie, as well as her in the compression suit. Great figures.

But fans were definitely waiting on her bad ass-itude from Aliens where she goes toe to toe with the Alien Queen.
