Marvel Legends Avengers vs the Chitauri

Been wanting to do this one for a while. Though I have always been a bigger X-Men fan than an Avengers fan, last year's Blockbuster was phenomenal. Just a simple set up in honor of that awesome movie.

I took the Walmart exclusive 6 inch Marvel Legends figures of Iron Man, Captain America, Nick Fury and Hawkeye. The Hulk is from the Marvel Legends 2 Pack with Valkeryie, and the Black Widow is the vintage ML figure variant. Didn't have the nerve to paint the hair red.

Five Marvel Select Chitauri complete the battle. Would love to build this as a city scene, but was short on time.

Gentle Giant Jumbo Kenner Yodas Have Arrived

Been waiting for these two for a long time. Gentle Giant released its Jumbo Kenner Yoda. The main figure comes with the orange snake, the club exclusive with the brown snake. No big deal, but I do like the fact that they made one with the Empire Strikes Back logo and one with Return of the Jedi and had different card photos.

An awesome collectible for any fan of the Jedi Master.

Cowboys and Zombies

What do you get when you cross Toy Soldiers of San Diego's Tombstone Wyatt Earp figures with Gentle Giant Walking Dead zombies? The best of all worlds. Shotguns and six shooters against a zombie horde. Gotta love it.

NECA Hunger Games Diorama

I guess the Hunger Games books and movie have done pretty good. The movie did astounding. I read the book while on vacation last year. Like it. Thought it odd that a kids killing kids story-line appealed so much to kids and adults alike.

Anyway, NECA released some great 6 inch figures. Katniss, Peeta, and Gale in Series 1, and Katniss (Training Outfit), Peeta (Training Outfit), Rue and Cato for Series 2.

Hope they do a Clove, Foxface, Haymitch, and Thresh in the future. We'll see. Thought I saw some of these warming the pegs at Toys R Us.

Marvel Select Rhino

Always one of my favorite characters, Marvel Select finally produced a Rhino action figures, one of Spider Man's first and chief nemesis. Since Marvel Select figures are larger and have more bulk than their Legends brethren, but still near the same scale, this bad boy goes well against any Legends Spider Man figure. A definite must have for any fan.

Toy Soldiers of San Diego Barbarians vs. Romans Playset

Toy Soldiers of San Diego (www.sdsoldiers.com) have produced some fantastic figures and playsets over the years. A year or two ago, they released their Romans vs. Barbarians sets and put them into a phenomenal playset. This thing is huge and has a ton of soldiers for both sides. It also includes the add-on set that comes with four new sculpts for both sides. It also comes with a great base - about 3 x 3 feet.

At first I set it up on the kitchen table, then redid on my diorama table in the garage which includes sand and grass terrain.

Playset box cover.
Old school paper bag packaging. Love it!
 Box cover art.

 Add-On set.

 Add on set, Barbarians!
 Add on set, Romans!

World War Z Diorama - Part 2

I just realized that in my haste to post photos of my World War Z diorama months ago, I only posted one photo. My apologies for being hasty. Anyway, here are more pictures of the Battle of Yonkers. The 1:18 scale military vehicles and figures come from Target's Bravo Team, Walmart's Motorworks, and Blue Box International (BBI). The zombies are a custom painted (grey skin, splashes of blood) assortment of 1:18 scale figures (A-Team. Men In Black III, Bo Duke from the Mego Dukes of Hazard, a few star wars, and more Bravo Team military figures.
