Pop Culture League Challenge: Are you Scared?

Keeping with the Halloween theme this October, this week's PCL challenge is Are You Scared? What Frightens You the Most?

You know what scares me the most? Snake people! I could be really witty and say snakes scare me, and people scare me, but really it is just plain old snake people.

What the hell are you talking about, you may be asking.

Since this is a toy collector's blog, the scariest toy I've ever seen that would put me in cardiac arrest if these were real are the Boss Fight Studios Gorgon sisters and their army. These awesome 1:18 (3-3/4 inch) scale action figures from one of the most successful action figure Kickstarters ever.

Check these awesome figures out and imagine running into these at life size in a dark alley.  Hell, in the bright sunlight, I would freak the hell out.

For real though, I hate spiders. Bugs and snakes don't scare me. I hate being in tall buildings, especially in New York City. I went up to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center this past spring and couldn't wait to go back down after snapping a photo or two.

Check out these other fearful things from our fellow Leaguers!

Alexis hates spiders. So do I. So do I.

With that...I think I won't reveal anyone else's fears. You'll  have to check them out yourself. They are chilling.

KMart Exclusive Star Wars Black Series Kylo Ren Starkiller Base

Kylo was actually released first, but I just managed to find one. It's rare I make it to KMart. There are so few left. Interesting that he is masked in this version. It was announced before Force Awakens was released, but obviously they didn't want to expose his face before the movie came out.

This is a nice addition to the Starkiller Rey figure.

BMC Iwo Jima Marines

I went to a toy soldier show a few years back. I found this cool toy soldier - a green Marine with an awesome radio. I picked him out from the dollar bin, found a few more, as well as the Iwo Jima flag raising group. Looking at their base, I realized these were from the BMC Iwo Jima playset. This set could be purchased for around $30 in the mid 00s. Really good sculpting for the price. I had the D-Day set and the sculpts were mediocre, except for the British. So I was happy to grab these guys.

I really like the bazooka guy (the bazooka actually is separate from the figure) and the prone soldier with the BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle).

Conte Collectible 300 Spartans

If you like modern "army men", then check out Conte Collectibles. While their website hasn't been updated in awhile, they've done some really cool stuff. I managed to grab a few of these Spartan figures awhile back. Definitely some awesome diorama potential here. Awesome sculpting.
