Maryland Toy Expo June 26

It's been a long time since I've been at a toy expo. Last time I went to the Maryland Toy Expo, I was a dealer so I didn't have much time to peruse the other sellers. This time I went with Matt with Toybox and we split up and took our time looking for our treasures. It was a lot of fun. Usually I rush through, but this time I took my time and enjoyed the variety of stuff.  Funny thing is, I remembered there was a separate building from my experience as a dealer, on our way out, I saw a sign above that side building as well. Turns out we should have started there. Even better stuff.

My focus for the hunt was loose Marvel Super Hero Squad, anything Avatar - the Last Airbender for my daughter, and anything Grimace. Scored on all three fonts and then some.

So these are some photos from the different booths.

Love these vintage Street Sharks - may have to start collecting these.

3D printed holographic Sentinel. Same as the mid 2000s Build a Figure.

Fisher Price Little People - more on these later.

Heck of a Mythic Legions Rapunzel castle.

This guy had a ton of Micronauts but I didn't get a chance to speak to him because the customer in front of me was yapping away with him forever.

Matt found this Grimace. I should have gotten it. I was past budget at this point.

This was my haul. Some Avatar figures, a Mythic Legions con exclusive, some McDonald's plates with Grimace on them, a diecast Tie Interceptor, a Star Wars Bendem Admiral Ackbar, some loose Super Hero Squad, the Fisher Price barn (still moos) and little people. Finally a few Walrusmen and Snaggleteeth to add to the jar.

As I mentioned, my daughter got me into Avatar so I'm building a small collection for her.

There were so many Star Wars BendEms. I've never had one, but figured I'd grab the Admiral Ackbar. I didn't realize they offered a Darth Vader collector case for the BendEms.

New acquisitions for the Cantina Jar.

Four Horsemen Studios had a large table there and I grabbed this Legendary Barbarian exclusive. It was only $40. Should have grabbed two - one for each head. On Ebay they go for about $90.

These Marvel Super Hero Squad figures are so hard to find loose. I rarely see them at toy stores or toy shows. I found these in a big loose bin of all kinds of small toys, most of them Imaginext figures.

This was the funnest item. My brother and I had these as a kid. When you open the barn door, it moos. This one still does. The seller gave this to me for $10. Then I found another dealer with a huge bin of farm and zoo animals. I remember the horses, cows and chickens, but totally forgot about the sheep and pigs. So much fun to put this set together.

Anyone else remember this little brat kid with the attitude?

Grimace!!!!

So that was it. There was a lot more I wish I snagged but I was satisfied. This show was a lot of fun. Next time, we'll start in the side building first.

  1. That carded Grimace displays great, definitely tempted. What year are the plates you got from?

The guy with the TMNT table had a carded TCats Hachiman. I remember those being not terribly expensive a couple decades ago but times have sure changed.
