Completed Mattel Battlestar Galactica Collection

Battlestar Galactica was released on this day, back in 1979.

I finally finished off the Mattel Battlestar Galactica collection with a Gold Cylon Commander. Also found a set of Cylons and a customizer who makes Ovion mesh nets and repro Viper coats.

Vintage Mattel Battlestar Galactica Figures

These aren't new, but I've been trying to organize my 3-3/4 and 4 inch figures a little better, especially my vintage figures. Someday I may complete this set.

More Mattel Heroes in Action - Loose Figures

As I mentioned in my last post, I had a few of these in the 70s. Took me a long time to find out what they were later on. All I could search for was plastic army men. I probably finally found them on Ebay and learned their real name.

Years ago, I snagged a small lot of loose figures. Definitely Vietnam Era figures in my opinion. Oh yeah, along with the cool rubble base, there is also a lever that connects to a rod that goes into the soldier's rear (ouch) to make him move and make shooting sounds.

He looks like he is shooting a grease gun.

Flamethrower - not sure how to shoot any weapon sitting like that.

I did remember they had Black soldiers as well. Cool!

Mattel Heroes in Action Army Men from the 70s

I distinctly remember these from the 70s. Interestingly enough, the first one I ever had I found in the sandbox at the local playground. I didn't know what it was but I thought the figure looked interesting and the stand that was a bunch of rubble was really neat. I managed to convince my parents to buy one or two more for me, and that was it because Star Wars happened.

Took me a long time to find out what these were on the internet and Ebay a few years back. They aren't all that great, and they seem to have been really popular in Italy. But I still think the little base of building rubble was kind of cool. Also, at first I thought these were WW2 figures but considering one guy is holding an M60, probably more Vietnam. Plus, Vietnam War soldiers were often seen with their uniform sleeves cut off.
