1982 GI Joe Collection

After painting my wooden peg people Joes, I took some simple photos of the 1982 Joe line on the new grass mat I purchased for dioramas. Only Steeler and Cobra Trooper are swivel arms. The rest are straight arms.

Looking at these brings me so much joy!











My first ever three Joes in that order.  Short Fuze, Stalker and Snake Eyes.

    I didn't get my first Joe until around '86, but do vaguely remember playing with the earlier lines at homes of older kids. I always liked those earlier ones too, I can't think of how to describe it properly, but they just seem to have a charm about them. And given how the prices have jumped in recent years, I'm glad I went back and got the earlier ones that I wanted when I did (sometime in the late 90's).

    Looking back at the original Joes just always reminds me of the simple times back then. When the Joes you had were almost a status symbol, and where I was from you were reliant on whatever Target or KayBee had in stock. In other words a lot of it was luck, and mom's mood. I'll always remember my "first" ones too!
