One Sixth Memories - Korean War - Battle of Kunu-ri - Part 2

The overwhelming number of Chinese forces enter the battle. The American units fight stubbornly, and attempt a retrograde movement at the same time. The 2nd Engineers are the rear guard. Before being overrun, the battalion commander orders the battalion colors (flag) to be burned so as not to fall into the hands of the Chinese as a war trophy.

Making the Call - Burning the Colors

The Aftermath - US force reconstituted, and the 2nd Infantry Division and 2nd Engineers continue to serve in Korea. The 2nd Engineers returned to the States in the mid 2000s.

  1. You seem to have been much more interested in telling stories through pictures back then. Not enough time these days, or just not as interested?

    1. Not enough time. I was single back then and no kids. I guess I work on a smaller scale now. 12 inch Joes were great, but they take up so much room. Have sold most of them off. My daughter is off to college, so have found more time to work on smaller dioramas.
